John proposed to Stephanie on March 13, 2010. Stephanie was visiting John in Rhode Island while on her spring break from OSU. John is a brilliant guitarist and for the weeks leading up to her visit, John told her he was writing a song for her. Stephanie had no idea he was planning to propose, so when John suggested that they go out for a nice dinner the night she gets in town, Stephanie invited a few of her girlfriends along. This did not set the tone John thought was appropriate for a proposal (thank goodness).
The next night Steph and John were cozy on the couch in their sweatpants watching a movie. When the movie was over, Stephanie asked John to play the song he wrote for her. John played the song which recounts the moment he first saw her. When he was done he excused himself to the bedroom and returned with in seconds and was on one knee. Stephanie was so surprised, she barely let him propose before she said, "YES"!
